Hyperledger In-depth: An hour with Thales

In 2019, 7.9 billion data records were breached. And yet, 39% of companies aren’t using robust data security measures because deployment complexity is a barrier. Security is not a nice-to-have feature. It’s not an opt-in. It’s a must. No one will buy your solution if they cannot trust it. It’s no wonder companies are exercising diligence when choosing a solution, ideally one that is system agnostic, automated, and simple. In this discussion, Blair Canavan of Thales and Avesta Hojjati of DigiCert will discuss how to incorporates critical levels of security into the blockchain, increasing the integrity of solutions built using Hyperledger Fabric.

Tune on Wednesday, September 15, at 10:00 AM PDT. For more information and to register, go here.

Hyperledger In-depth: An hour with Privici

Students need to get back to interacting with each other and faculty face to face in order to maximize their education experience; similarly, employees need to interact with each other from time to time in person to generate new ideas, form relationships and build the next best thing together. The post pandemic world will have the effects of the virus with us for a while, so how do we protect each other in a way that also respects our privacy?

In this session on “Verifiable Credentials – How to bring students and employees back to school and work while respecting their privacy in the covid era,” Mahesh Balan, CEO of Privici, will discuss how verifiable credentials can be used securely check the status of a vaccination, antibody test or virus test without having to track this in a central database. He will cover ways this can be achieved and the practical limitations and issues of trying to bring this technology to the fore for Covid mitigation. He will also demo examples, talk about the technology and standards and what the world can expect in the immediate future as well as the wide applicability of this technology as Self-Sovereign Identity becomes more prevalent in multiple domains.

The first Hyperledger Fabric major release since v1.0, Fabric v2.0 delivers important new features and changes for users and operators alike, including support for new application and privacy patterns, enhanced governance around smart contracts, and new options for operating nodes. Hyperledger Fabric v2.0 introduces decentralized governance for smart contracts, with a new process for installing a chaincode on your peers and starting it on a channel. The new Fabric chaincode lifecycle allows multiple organizations to come to agreement on the parameters of a chaincode, such as the chaincode endorsement policy, before it can be used to interact with the ledger.

In this discussion on “Best practices and major obstacles for upgrading to Hyperledger Fabric Version 2.2,” Chris Smith of KrypC will share his team’s experience updating their customer’s Hyperledger Fabric infrastructure to version 2.2 as well as some of the obstacles their customers faced and how KrypC navigated these obstacles to ensure a successful update.
