Weekend Update: This Week’s Round-up of Remote Blockchain Learning Resources

Welcome to the Weekend Update. Our goal with this weekly post is to share quick updates about online education, networking and collaboration opportunities and resources for the open source enterprise blockchain community.

If you have suggestions for resources or events that we should spotlight in a future Weekend Update, let us know here using #HLWeekendUpdate.

Hyperledger Climate Action and Accounting Special Interest Group Guest Presentation: To Net Zero with Verifiable Credentials

Join the Climate Action and Accounting SIG for a guest presentation by Andreas Kind and Maximilian Weinhold and Florian Ansgar Jaeger from Siemens on “To Net Zero with Verifiable Credentials.” Verifiable credentials, as promoted by the W3C as well as the Hyperledger projects Indy and Aries, can give individuals control of their identity attributes in a privacy-preserving manner. Estainium, an association of manufacturers and trusted technical inspection organizations, extends the use of verifiable credentials for sharing product-level information in supply chains, specifically for letting suppliers cryptographically prove product carbon footprints (PCFs) down-stream while preserving common supply chain confidentiality assumptions. The aim of this PCF sharing infrastructure is to drive industrial production towards net zero carbon emission.

For more information on the meeting, which is Tuesday, August 10, at 8:00 AM PDT, go here.

The Giving Chain

The Giving Chain, a project under the Hyperledger Summer Mentorship Program, collects donations in local communities and transfers gifts to those in need. Decentralized tracking of donations can revolutionize charity giving, adding trust, accountability and dignity to the process.

To get involved, join the next meeting on Friday, August 13, at 12:00 pm EDT. More details are here.

The Giving Chain is also part of the LFX Crowdfunding effort. Find out more here
